BARD Express is here!

The National Library Service (NLS) has released its new BARD Express application to make the download process easier.  No more unzipping files!  Now you can download your audio books from the BARD website to your cartridge or USB drive.  For help or to get started call the Library today!

 

Books on Demand or  (PCC)

Instead of waiting for a popular book to become available, we can now put up to 15 titles from your Reserve List on a single cartridge just for you. Call the Library and ask for a Reader Advisor (800) 808-2555.

Monthly Book Club

Come to the Braille Institute Library in Los Angeles and be a part of the monthly book club.  They meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.  If you want to find out what book their reading next or partipate by emailing your comments to siran@brailleinstitute.org

Browsing Area—Check out up to 7 digital books and 2 braille books from a large selection of genres and   authors.

Patron Computer—Reserve our patron computer for online job resources and more.

* Wi-Fi Connection—Bring in your personal laptop and access the Internet for free in one of our quiet reading areas.

* Expert Reader Advisors—Meet one of our friendly and knowledgeable Reader Advisors at the Library front counter to select a book just for you!

CCTV—There are three CCTV magnification stations available for patrons to read print.

* BARD Station—Not signed up for our Braille and Audio Reading Download yet? You can complete our online application in just a few easy steps at the BARD station.

* Eye-Pal Reader—This reader scans books, newspapers, letters and other printed material to read them aloud for you.

* SHELF Project—Beside having access to books from NLS, you can now download locally produced books.
